I deleted mine about two years ago. I agree with your reason, because that was my reason too. I was also fed up of the Farmville requests and constant fights between other people clanging up the website.
And the poking. OH GOD THE POKING! Make it stop!

People who i wasn't friends with in school kept adding me because they knew of me. Plus the intrusion into my life. I much prefer face to face or email.
