well,for me win 8 is very cool,its only cunfusing if you let it be, my wife just got a new desktop with win 8 and we both like it, to me it very user friendly, there are lot of tweeks to make it suite your prefances,very simpl I love it,

Windows 8 is a fine OS. Even if you don't like the start screen, you can always install a start menu replacement that gets rid of all that stuff. I like Start8, here's a link.

You'll be able to keep all the performance enhancements of Windows 8 but get a more familiar start menu too. Best of both worlds really.
