Because in America, one drop makes you black has always been the rule.
What is odd is all the white guys who like to bring this up, as if they never noticed that 95% of the people who they call niggers every day are actually part white, a product of their ancestors raping every slave they could rape.

President Obama identifies with both sides of his family. However, when he was growing up, others would just seem him as black rather than as half-and-half. His life experiences were that of a black man.
