Corn snake in water bowl? - Annie - 02-19-2014 12:46 PM

My baby corn snake shed yesterday night, and since she shedded she's been soaking in her water bowl and not come out with only her head out, this is the first time she's stayed in her water bowl, is this normal? I'm panicking and not sure if she has mites or not?!

Your temps may be a little on the warm side. Your tank temps should be 80-88 degrees F. You are right they will soak in the water if they do have mites or ticks. Check the nose and eye area. If you do not see anything you are fine. The nose should be pink in color. If you see any specs of black then that is a mite. You will quickly need to clean everything in the tank. What I did was bleached everything but the water bowl. I put that in boiling hot water. Also give your snake a bath as well this will tick them off and they will poor out. Check out my facebook page at Corn Snake Facts and Questions you can post pics and questions you may have. There is a lot of info on this page to help you keep your corn healthy.
