What do you consider to be the social meaning of mainstream media?

The social meaning of the mainstream media is subjective. It is dependent on who or what is doing the consuming and what their relationship to the that consumption is. The media means different things to different people and it's hard to accurately answer the question since the way in which it is framed leaves a lot open to interpretation.
