How to stop diarrhea caused by divorce stress? - nh24 - 02-19-2014 12:48 PM

Three weeks ago I found some horrific emails in my husbands Facebook account. We split up and there is. I chance of reconciliation. It has been hard and I have had diarrhea almost every day of the past three weeks. I have tried Imodium and it helped a couple of times but today is the worst day I've had and te Imodium hasn't stopped it. I feel more upset and stressed today for various reasons so I guess it makes sense that the diarrhea would be worse too. I jut want to get out and do something fun that will make me feel happy and good but I keep going to the bathroom and passing now what it's like just mucus and watery stuff. I don't know what to do to end this cycle.

My dad's best friend was an amazing doctor, and this is the diarrhea diet he gave us (only until the diarrhea passes): applesauce, bananas, saltines, gatorade (LOTS of gatorade so you don't get dehydrated). Eat these until the diarrhea subsides, then eat high fiber foods to keep yourself regulated.

This belongs in Health....and if Immodium hasn't solved the problem, then stop at the drug store and speak to the pharmacist...s/he can give you suggestions of other options that might help, but be sure you tell them the issue is stress related (and also if your eating/drinking habits have significantly changed due to the stress)...

Note: the don't need to know the cause of the stress...at least not in detail...

The brat diet can help...bananas, rice, applesauce and plain toast.

Honey, I use the Phramacists LOTS of times when I need help with meds. They are UP on the very BEST OTC meds. for our specific needs. Ask yours what is recommended for your particular need. DO make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids & yes, Gatorade IS one of the best things to be drinking. Importantly, I trust you & your husband can overcome your situation. IF you feel counselling would be of help, do it. I've done my fare share of counselling, can truly say it does help. BTW, I could care less what category you put your question in. IF it can be answered, THAT IS the most important thing!!! HOPE you feel better soon...best to you, honey...Smile
