If you're a victim of cyber bullying, why do people continue to use social media? - Gigabyt3 - 10-14-2012 06:30 PM

Heard about someone who was a victim of 'cyber bullying' for over 3 years. Once it started getting bad, why didn't they just delete their facebook account/ social media accounts and just stop using the internet for that purpose? Seems bizarre that you would continue to use it, and besides, real life is better than the internet, they should just phone up real friends and speak in real life instead of relying on social media. Any thoughts on this?

They put the feelings of others over their own. People who are insecure with themselves seek validation through the opinions of others. Most people who are bullied are somewhat weak in this respect. For people who are confident in themselves do not seek validation in what others think, hence everyone has trouble from one person or another. Those who fight back have enemies, those who don't fight back are victims.

It has become a way of life to have a social media account. I believe the Internet is making our world smaller and it gives people an opportunity to blindly make fun of or voice opinions that are very harsh that they normally wouldn't say in regular conversation to someone's face.
