Would you say I have potential? - Amber - 02-20-2014 05:43 AM

I would love to be a manga artist or make anime for tv

I started drawing anime 4 years ago and that's all I've been doing, I'm 15 so where would I be at in a couple of years? I just want to hear from someone who must be more experienced than I am, that would help a lot! I would like to know if I could be good or not, I don't want it to come off as vain. I also have written stories as if they were anime on tv, as I watch it a lot too, so does a big imagination help?

Also I live in the uk and I learnt how to speak a little japanese if that helps at all??

Your drawings are good. I think though that what would help you improve as an artist is to be a bit more flexible - currently they're a very specific type of anime and it looks very stylised. You draw the bodies very small and the eyes are a little close together. It's fine because that's your style, but what you need to do to improve that is to spend a bit of time looking at realistic anatomy and then adapt it, particularly hips, thighs and hands. Using pic.twitter.com/vd9eHbs5Yg as an example, you've drawn the hips curving inwards whereas in reality they would curve outwards. There is no indication of her knees, which should be visible because the thighs wouldn't be any longer than her torso, and her thighs lack shape. There is potential just work on your anatomy Smile
