Which is more important...a moral imperative that health care should not be a profit venture or free markets? - nasty s - 02-20-2014 08:26 PM

or shall I say that markets be allowed to be free to set prices whatever they may be?

Sure free markets are good for obvious reasons...but are there not some things that even in free markets that social factors determine that a particular type of service should be a govt service or a utility where price is set by govt...such as the electric companies etc..??

If you want innovation in medical technology, then it should be left in the free market.

There is nothing moral about forcing people in the pharmaceutical field to invest millions of dollars in new medicines and then be force to give them away for free. There is also nothing moral about forcing hard working doctors to become employees of the government, where their rates are fixed.

Free Market. We wouldnt be here today without it. Dont get me wrong, goverment should always be there as a backup, and definitely for military protection, but they should not play ANY part in the way that the people's money is being spent (I mean, they're already taking it from your paycheck before you even get it).

Look, we pay their salaries to make decisions in regards to the country and it's best interest. And the only decisions that are being made is to take more money away from us so they can spend it at their leisure (aka line their pockets).

When goverment "sets" the price, and controls resources and the wealth of the people, its called Communism. Which doesnt work.

Children in Canada have to wait 6 months for a tonsilectomy, an adult up to 18 months for a hernia surgery - and this is if the goverment grants them an OK for the procedure in the first place.

The country is in shambles right now, on a bunch of different levels, all because of the same goverment that was established to protect it, and make it succeed. Granting them more money, and more power is only going to make more problems (see my "Misery" analogy here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtOOL96F2DcWjPM6Z_I2ihfsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080714074526AAq7J74&show=7#profile-info-10KWHmwdaa)
