Does Facebook track your web browsing history? - Dwight - 02-22-2014 11:15 AM

I learned recently from marketing class that websites such as this one track your searches for research info. I have no problem if they do that, I just don't want all of my info displayed on facebook. Ex: whenever my friend uses Pandora, literally every song is posted on her fb without her knowing it. Same for all these random ads. Does incognito prevent any recording of info?

Facebook won't post anything without your permission (your friend gave Pandora permission to post the current song at some point, even if she didn't read what she was giving it permission to do). But it's very difficult to stop Facebook from tracking you altogether. Every website with an embedded Facebook like button sends a message to Facebook to load the button, and that request includes enough information for Facebook to be able to match your website visit to your Facebook account, especially if you're still logged in to Facebook.
