i have AT&T. and i want to do the whole change your status, poke, message, comment, etc, through text messages. i have unlimited texting but no internet! will AT&T charge me separately for the facebook text messages?

Nope, just sign up for the Facebook mobile texts. You can fix the settings of notifications at "Account Settings" and the "Mobile" tab.
