Building up a band Facebook page is frustrating. It's just a matter of relentless networking. Show up to every other band's show in town, and say to everyone there "Oh, yeah, I'm in the band Codename Mute, you should totally look us up on Facebook!"
That's going to get you about 80% of your fans.
You can bring in a few more by advertising through Facebook... but in my experience, that pushes your numbers up, but not with people who are actually going to come to your shows.
