Couldn't they have been designed to have the letters spaced out a bit more, and always be standing upright as opposed to having sideways and upside down letters?
Some captcha's aren't terrible.. but some absolutely are a pain to deal with such as signing up for msn.com

Well the oddities of a captcha are the entire point, so bots can't use OCR.

I agree. If they were clearer I could have joined Twitter but I can't read those blurred letters. Likewise the audio words, they are spoken much too fast and in a foreign version of English which makes them completely non-understandable!
