Yes, they are going to put the timeline on everyone, they have actually announced it a while ago.

Facebook is implementing Timeline into everyone's account slowly. In my opinion, it's going to be their downfall. I don't use it myself, too many security issues.

Yes they announced that everyone will wake up one day and have it, I too think that it will be their downfall, I haven't gotten it as yet and all my friends who did get it regret it, I don't want people to see what I posted two years ago!? Its also really hard to use, I just find it difficult to navigate around
Hopefully FB will notice how many people don't like it, and will stop the program.

Although for the moment Facebook did not make a clear statement in any of its official pages about how the upgrade would be deployed, and as a consequence there is a lot of false information going around, experienced users know that Facebook upgrades of this size have never been optional.
Besides, there are clear evidences that indicate that there will be no way to go back to the old Profile. Take a look at the article in the source to see what those evidences are.

Most Likely it will become mandatory soon i have heard storys of people starting to get forced into it so enjoy the old profile now if you still have it because soon it will be gone probably
