So, I'm rewatching The Social Network and it makes me ask the question How over-rated is Facebook? - Joe Schmoe - 02-23-2014 03:21 PM

Cities used to hand out white page books to look up people with public numbers. It was free to contact your friends or people you knew. What if the local government should posted a website with the same ino and allowed people to claim their names and post pictures and information. This would have happened anyhow, but instead Facebook takes the initiative and someone it's worth billions of dollars? For a website? People are just followers.

It's way over-rated. It's sole purpose should be socializing. But it's becoming a tool to get famous. Celebrities, politicians, sports persons also involved with it for publicity.
