I need help deleting a video? - Crystal - 02-23-2014 05:11 PM

Two years ago in middle school I uploaded a video of me and my friend goofing of. Now two years later me and my friend are no longer friends. I went to delete the video but I didn't remember what email username password or anything I used. I didn't swear on it. Or say anything impolite. I just don't want it online anymore. What do I do? Also will this video affect if I get into college ?

You don't reference where the video was posted (Facebook, instagram, etc.)

Regardless, the application usually has a "forgot your ID or password?" option when logging in. you may need to do both steps, retrieve login ID and then retrieve password if you have forgotten both.

One fact to remember is that everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, is stored once uploaded to these sights and in fact are technically and legally no longer your property.

There is virtually no way to completely eliminate them as they could have been downloaded and saved to countless hard drives, other sights through sharing. Just look at what some of these stars that have sex tapes leaked have to go through.

In the future, never post anything you don't want around for ever. And yes, info can be used against you for hiring if the info gives the prospective employer reason to believe it would interfere with the job.

For example, would you hire someone to take care of children if you saw a video of them shooting a gun in the air? would you hire a person to work at your store if there was a vide of them stealing items from 7/11? would you hire a person that represents your firm if there were videos of them drinking and stripping in a bar in Mexico during spring break?, etc.

Without an email, user name or a password there is nothing you can do. No one cares about a video some middle school girls created 2 years ago so I don't think this video is going to cause you problems in the future,

If you at least can remember your username, then you can click a link on the log in page that says Need Help, and you can verify a new password. If you do have luck getting back into your account, you can delete the video through YouTube's Video Manager.
