Just upgraded to 4G, just a few questions? - Alexander - 02-24-2014 08:05 PM

Hey, I have an iPhone 5c and I recently upgraded to 4G, I have 1GB of data per month so I was just wondering if I should turn it off? If I don't will it tear through my allowance?

What would be the point of upgrading if you aren't going to use it?

Monitor your usage over a month's time & see.

Just make sure to not watch/stream youtube videos or download/update any apps and you should be fine!

I have a 500mb plan on 4G and am doing OK Smile

Hi, I recommend downloading this app on the iPhone called 'DataMan'. There's a free version and a paid version. I think the paid version is good enough, controlling how much data you use every month.

First, I think you need to understand how 4G works. In literal terms, it doesn't use more data compared to 3G. For example, it takes 50kb to load Facebook on 3G, it will also take the same amount, which is 50kb, to load Facebook on 4G. The difference is just that 4G is faster. But, why do some people think 4G uses more data? It's because as 4G is faster, people tend to load more data in the same amount of time. Like in 1 hour, people with 3G only can load 50 pages, while with 4G, people can load 80 pages in that same hour, that's why 4G seems to use more data.

So I do not think you should switch off your 4G, as it doesn't use more data, just control how much you use, and download the app called Dataman, that watches your data usage and warns you if you are going overboard.
