So I finally managed to convince my friend to join skype. She is unable to download it but can use sites such as imo ( I believe it is called ) that allows you to sign in with your Skype username and password and still connect with everyone. However, when she tries to sign up, it makes her sign up for a Microsoft/Hotmail/Outlook account instead and it is very frustrating because the website will not accept that as her username because, well, it's not her username. We even tried typing it in on my computer, where I have Skype full downloaded, and it would not accept that as her username. Is there any way to create a Skype username any more? It's a bit frustrating that it isn't letting her or giving her the option to when she clicks to sign up. Thank you for your time.
Thank you Ethan, that worked wonderfully. I wonder why Skype can't just put that option there when you click 'Join Us'. It is very frustrating but thank you for ending it for us. c:

I see options to connect with a Microsoft or Facebook account, but it's not necessary.
Signing up with that form should allow you to join Skype only.
Also, if you're using Windows 8, make sure to download the regular version of the program here: http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-windows/downloading/
(Windows 8 wants you to login with a Microsoft account)
