i need to know if it is safe to make a facebook.

Facebook is Safe.
What you choose to show on your profile determines the safety of your information.
Things you can do to make it more safe if you ever so wish:
1. Use a nickname instead of your real name.
2. Only give out your URL to people you trust.
3. Choose what to display on your profile, you can hide everything, or you can hide nothing and everything in between.
4. Do not click external links unless they're trusted sites.
5. No not accept requests from people you don't know.
6. Make your name unsearchable.
7. Opt to not display your birthday.
Those are just a few things you can do.

Facebook is safe for everyone over 13.

It's safe, as you as you don't put out ANY personal information. Example: telephone numbers, physical addresses, ANY way a stranger can track you down. Be very careful!

The security of your own information you put on there is up to you. It is safe if you don't put any details of where you live, basically any personal information and what not. But if you do and some how something very bad happens to you, well, stupid people are supposed to die.
