Is it common for atheists to list their religion on facebook? - me - 02-26-2014 03:15 PM

If so, do most put "atheist" under the religion section or do you put "none" or something else?

PS: This is an atheist friendly question...I'm on your side. I just don't know what to put on my facebook in the religion section. I completely understand that atheism is NO belief.
Archer needs to LIGHTEN UP. For the record, I don't use a bible. You assumed that I do and I can't understand why.

Thanks to those who actually answered this question helpfully.

The word atheist says nothing about a persons religion or lack of.

They may be Buddhist but still atheist.

Under my "religious views" section is a quote by Seneca:

"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful."

Atheism isn't a religion. It's just a label

I think that there is a selection for atheist. If you are atheist just put that. You do not even have to fill that part out. But if you want to put none or athetist.

You can put "atheist", it won't be wrong

Main Entry: athe·ism Pronunciation: \ˈā-thē-ˌi-zəm\Function: nounEtymology: Middle French athéisme, from athée atheist, from Greek atheosgodless, from a- + theos godDate: 15461 archaic : ungodliness, wickedness 2 a: a disbelief in the existence of deity b: the doctrine that there is no deity

I just don't put anything. I kind of want to put something like "pastafarian" or something outrageous like that, but I always decide against it.

First you need to look up and understand what a "religion" actually is and second you need to quit cherry picking like you do with your bible for this is the Religion and Spirituality section.
You assume much but actually now nothing for Atheism is no gods as everyone possesses beliefs in some form or another.

I don't put anything on Facebook that I wouldn't put on a job resume.

Why not antitheist.
