Help with changing OS? - Tony - 02-28-2014 10:42 AM

I have my SSD with win7 and I found my old hdd with win vista. If I with to unplug the ssd and plug in the hdd, would anything bad happen?

Your system won't boot properly. The OS that is installed on the SSD/HDD is affiliated with the motherboard and the other base components of the system. There is ways to take an operating system and use it after upgrading components of a system, but not to just switch like that. If you just want to use the old HDD in your new system, you can format it and use it as another hard drive in it if you motherboard supports it(which it should).

Reformat and erase the HDD, then use it as an additional storage drive.

I am assuming of course that you have correctly installed Win 7 and your system boots properly with only the SSD plugged in.
