What Defined the Decade of the 2000's? - Megg - 02-28-2014 07:09 PM

What were things that really defined the years from 2000-2010? Like post-apocalypse, but what else were key factors that made the decade its own?

9/11, first black president, horrible music.

There was a heavy emphasis on terrorism, and the subsequent counter-terrorism efforts, due to the attacks of 9/11 and others alike. Unfortunately, many of those 10 years were ones spent in fear for many people. However, on the flip-side, those 10 years were also ones of technological innovation. Everything from computers to automobiles to medical science has improved.

Tension in the middle east seemed to be a big theme and still is today, but aside from that there was also the domination of social media, ipods became a household item, other huge technological advances, music went to $h!t, and all kinds of disasters may have had an influence on that post-apocalyptic theme you were talking about be it terrorism, hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, or economic upheaval.
