Some of my contacts thru a social site always put an @ infront of people's names (ie, @jodi) and have noticed that there is an @username facility on Twitter.
Is this related? And what does it actually mean?

The @ stands for "At"

it means at! like at jodi's or at jodi's house

it means they are replying to someone
(Example:

puting an @ in front of a username means that it is meant for that person only like for example @Mimo means that i am saying something for mimo
