How Do You Get a Friend Request in Your hotmail Box If you don't have a facebook to begin with? Would this person have to know my email address to send me a friend request? Thanks in advance

The person that is making the request has allowed facebook to scan his email contacts and send friend invitations to every contact that has not yet joined Facebook.

Yeah, people with facebook can send invitations to their friends who don't have it by entering their email. They're inviting you to join facebook and become their friend. So yeah, they'd have to have your email adress.

You will only receive messages from facebook if your e-mail address is signed up to facebook. Someone could have used your e-mail address to make an account OR it could just simply be a friend who is asking to be a friend on facebook as sometimes you can send out a request to everyone in your hotmail whether they have facebook or not.
