Help: How do I begin in Social Media Marketing occupation? - Bianca - 03-04-2014 07:13 PM

I was once an Admin person in my company that specializes in security solutions. The job requires minimum work to do and after 2 years of being in that position I was moved to or let's say promoted to being Marketing Executive which I am not certain if I can do it but I can't say no for an opportunity to grow. I am totally blank like do not know how to start although I have been told to focus on social media marketing and liasing with vendors/suppliers if needed for marketing materials and events. I am more concern on how to do social media marketing as I am not a technical person that knows about all this security solutions (eg. antivirus, data encryption etc) I am wondering how to begin. I badly needed help and suggestions on how to move forward and be more confident.

Your role will be to create content plans across all social platforms by:

•Liaising and understanding clients product features and benefits
•Working closing with the PR and account management teams, to create integrated campaign based content
•Monitoring competitor brands and report on findings
•Assist on the campaign strategy and planning
•Supporting the Social Media Manager in researching and writing client communication strategies
•Supporting the growth of the social media offering.

As you'll be responsible for multiple accounts across a few social media platforms, you have to come up with a coherent social media strategy first.

Start with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, may be YouTube and decide which social platform is the best for promoting your company. Then determine the frequency of updates - it's not necessary to post everyday, may be it will me enough just to feature only important updates on minor platforms and focus more on FB or G+.

There are a plenty of tools (e.g. BuzzBundle - http://www.link-assistant.com/buzzbundle/ etc.) that can be used for more convenient management of social accounts, scheduling posts, searching for relevant discussions online and so forth.

Visual aspect is also an important part of social media content, so try to make your posts as visual as possible, because the posts with images or video attached result in more clicks and shares.
