How much CO2 emissions does a typical facebook page cause? - adam c - 03-05-2014 02:37 PM

I recently found out that webpages can cause a lot of CO2 due to the energy usage of servers. Does anyone know any statistics about this, particularly how much CO2 are you producing from creating a facebook page adding particular applications, uploading photos etc?

Really fodaddy19 its asinine. Why exactly is that?

Facebook pages generate CO2. There are 10s of millions of facebook pages so even if one page only generates a minimal amount of CO2, f you look at the combined CO2 emitted by all facebook pages you will probably find that it is quite significant amount, (or should I say asinine amount? as you may be someone who doesnt think that CO2 emissions are really all that significant)

Too minimal to account for. The servers wil be running whether you have facebook page or not. This is really an asinine question. The amount of CO2 you exhale in a 1 minute period is probably more carbon that is released from the power station that powers the facebook server when someone views your facebook page over the course of a year.
