I have about 40 odd followers and most are family! I was just wondering if there was a special way of getting followers??

Write lots of tweets and use lots of tags. I get most of my followers because they find my tweets when they check for hashtags. Also follow people who follow back ( most people do this anyway)

There is. There are two free online thing (I forgot what they are called) that sends about 500 followers per minute for 5minutes or something. You can customize on regions of the followers, etc it's really elaborate. Since most people do not have privacy protection on, they automatically accept your requests. So in total, 10min after, you would have like 500 followers or so.
