Does Facebook friends count as friends? - Sara - 03-08-2014 02:08 AM

I was just curious if Facebook friends count as friends. Thanks for answering.

No, they don't.
If you know them and consider them friends IN REAL LIFE, then they are your friends. But not all facebook friends are your real friends.

Hi Sara.

If you mean people you never saw before on the same place where you are, that would depends on their behavior on the website. For example, if they only talk about sensual things and make them look at least as jokes, i wouldn't trust them so much as friends, males or females. If they don't make a commitment to help you when you request a help like to be present on a trial let's say, they are not friends, cowardice is not an excuse.

Otherwise if they do the opposite to that cases mentioned, then you can say, in websites like facebook you can have friends too.

If you can have friends only this way, because your parents don't let you get out and have "normal" friends (the ones you see in person) because the cliché of younger baby exposed into danger and stuff like that, what can you do? use what you have at hand and make friends like that, but always be careful with those too older for you, or young ones but with not trustful intentions.

Now if they forbid you to have friends in person and online, you have to reveal yourself and defend your rights and tell them that you won't allow them to ruin your life. You can ask a Priest if what I'm saying is correct and see what he responds to you.
