Best way of Marketing without soliciting? - rev_9k - 03-09-2014 09:42 AM

My father has owned an IT consulting business for 10 year now and he's always had private clients and customers and been an independent contractor. He's obtained his customers through referrals and never needed to advertise. But due to the rough economy he's had some loss in businesses and i'm trying to market for him. I'm a Systems Engineer myself with a good amount of education and background, but I have no marketing skills. What's the best way to get out there and gain people's trust and pick up some new customers without annoying businesses or soliciting? Would doing a webpage do any good, or going to each business and leaving a business card? Any input would be great! Thanks!
