How to find out what unlabeled places are on google maps/earth? - Jake - 03-10-2014 07:28 PM

Hey,

I live in the uk and was looking on google maps at interesting looking places a
round my area and found a few places that I would like to find out what is there without going there, how would I go about doing this?

I have tried searching for the places but no results as the places are unlabeled with no references.

By places do you mean parks or buildings or towns?

I'm in the US so google is a lot bigger here, but do you have much Street Views? If you can find an identifiable business near something, and you can find that business on the net, you could write to them and say 'I notice this is near you but google maps doesn't identify it, can you please tell me what it is?'

You can post to your local craigslist community Q/A forum and ask.

You can find other 'local' oriented forums on facebook, yahoo groups, and ask there.

Someone certainly know what they are - the trick is to find where on the net that person is. The most obvious place to look for them is locally.

The funny ones here are when something is marked incorrectly, such as a swamp or a pond with no roads around and right in the middle of it is 'Bob's Hamburger Grill.' Smile
