if i start a successful social network like facebook, how do i get paid? - cupcake26 - 03-13-2014 05:31 AM

I'm thinking of starting a social web site and I was wondering how does one get paid when it doesnt cost to go onto the site. Also does anyone know a good company that could help me get started on creating my site.

You can try building your site on an open source CMS system like drupal. Its free and stable. The only way I could think you'd make money out of your site would be through selling advertising, selling your membership list, or selling something directly to your members. (or selling the site once its reached an attractive membership size)

Advertisements. Facebook makes all of its money by selling advertisements that are shown when you go to Facebook. As for starting it yourself... I hope you have a lot of investment capital. Facebook cost $24 million to create.
