Do you have the ability to see past all social norms? - Justin - 03-15-2014 07:59 PM

Such as equality, fairness and many other ideals..

Hi,
Social norms occur because of what a mind is exposed to. Everything you sense could be defined loosely as media influence.
How than can I or anyone escape entirely by having free thought?

People who look for truth, like they are looking for pure gold, have the best chance of seeing past social norms such as "equality and fairness" and other ideals, to what may or may not be actually happening.

However, when they find truths in detail, they find themselves not talking publicly about it, because to speak of things that are not socially acceptable because they are against social norms, despite being solid science, may be misconstrued as an attack on others.
Such misunderstandings are not beneficial to society, even though truth is always beneficial.
Truth is often not beneficial to those who foolishly do not value truth.
However, the truth is what is. And everything made is based on it.
That is why if you want to do anything, you better know the truth about that thing, to succeed at all or to succeed in the best way.
Some social norms are based on truth; some are not. The details matter.

Sure, equality, and fairness are personal-norms by the way, society never promoted fairness, or true-equality(it's anti-political, and society is highly politicized).

I've thought extensively about this sort of thing, I've imagined counterfactual societies based on other social norms. So I'd like to think yes.

In the end everything really is just pretend. It's all a game.
