Amazon how has Askville.com to invite people to comment on things and boost sales of certain products this way. They are also known as the first company that successfully implemented an affiliate marketing program, that is, they pay associates to promote Amazon products in any way they want - on your own site, in social media, etc.

IMDB (internet movie database) is also owned by Amazon. People can write reviews of movies, rate them, etc. Which helps Amazon get user-gerenated content + engagement.

Of course, they also have facebook, twitter and other sharing buttons on different products and have a following in these social networks. There may be other ways they use social media i'm not aware of.

Can't say anything about oxam, sorry
