Well, when it comes to groups, it depends on what you're interested in. Say you like dancing, all you need to do is type "Dancing" in the search box, and then click on the "Groups" tab. All the groups that revolve around dancing will pop up, choose the one you like and join it. As for friends, look at the right of the page, you'll see "People you may know...", click on "See all" and then choose the people you actually know and add them. Hope this helps, enjoy.
