I have a paid membership website. What is the most cost effective/right way to use Facebook Ads? - Sandbox - 03-18-2014 10:13 AM

I have 260,000 people using the Custom Audience Filter. If I want to get 600 to 2000 of those people to become paid subscribers on my website within 3 months what is the best way/budget to use facebook ads. Specifically:

1. Would it be better to select "Clicks to Website" as the objective, or the "Website Conversions" as the objective?

2. How much should I set as the budget? How does it work? What is the difference in cost structures (please use an example) between the Clicks to Website and Website Conversions?

Thanks.

There is really no difference between Clicks to Website and Website Conversions other than for Website Conversions, you have the ability to track sources of clicks (if you use tracking software).

I would not use an ad to get people to enter the paid website. You have not built any relationship with your audience. Rather, you should offer a free gift to click, such as a free 30-day subscription. For example, don't bill until the 30-day period is up.

I would set a budget of $10 to $20/day and try several different ads that use different images, different headlines and different body text. Even very small changes can make a huge difference in clicks and conversions. The only way to find out is to test. Then increase your ad budget once you have found an ad that gets the highest click percentage.
