Where do I develop apps to generate revenue? - ngaai - 03-18-2014 04:30 PM

I am a software programmer. I've programmed extensively on C++ and Java. I am open to learning new languages. Where do I start developing apps? iPhone/Facebook/Twitter/Android.. All I have is a PC and Nokia cellphone. I would like to minimise my budget and I am looking towards generating revenue from apps in the long run. I would like to start off by building small apps and move to bigger ones. I just don't know what platform to work on.

As of now, Apple apps seems to be making most profit.

I would say Android has the future since Android is going to be on phones, tablets, TV and god knows what other electronics. However, most of the apps (as far as 57%) on Android market are free. And that is because of the way Google does business.

Twitter: I didn't know twitter has apps. Then again, I don't tweet.

Facebook: I am not a member of facebook either. However, you can probably make short term profit on facebook but I personally wouldn't invest a lot on a website. I would rather invest on a platform.

If you do decide to make an app, all you need is a PC, couple of books, a brilliant idea and access to internet.

Good luck!
