Don't use the Facebook app, you can't do it on that. Go to Google and go to Facebook through that, so that it's the desktop version, then proceed to edit friends or your profile like you normally would on a computer.

Go to the persons profile and than go towards the bottom and hit unfriend and that should remove them from your friend list
