Peer pressure is far more influential on an individual, while media pressure is more influential on groups or society as a whole.

In my opinion it is social media pressure.
It can be used to effect and direct society in any way to a certain agenda. To help, inform, and educate, or to instill, indoctrinate, and control.
Social media today is used for the benefit of advertisers by means of pleasure or by appealing to their ego.

Peer pressure is more blatant and noticeable, while media pressure is way more subtle because it is planned and usually uses sub-concious techniques and psychology that people aren't even aware of.

Scary stuff!
