More ads on my laptop vs desktop? - calmerNUR - 03-22-2014 08:39 PM

I have noticed significantly more advertisements at the top of the page when I do a google search, and more, larger ads when I use facebook on my laptop vs. my desktop or other computers. Does this indicate that I have a virus on the laptop? The google searches are especially annoying because they don't come up right away. The page looks like it has loaded, and then after a few seconds (enough to get very close to clicking on the first search result), 3 or four ads load in the top position, and the search results move down. I have accidentally clicked on the ads a few times now because of the way it's timed, and I'm sure this is purposeful. Very annoying, what can I do?

The ads displayed in smart websites depends on your screen resolution
for example a screen of resolution 800x640 will see 1 normal sized ads
a screen of 1360x900 will see more ads ...

Are you sure you don't have ad-blocking software installed on your desktop computer?

Many browsers now have add-ons or extensions that can block adverts. I run Firefox, and have Adblock Plus 2.0.3 as an extension. I wouldn't be without it.

Hope this helps.
