I've heard about business that have facebook FAN pages that join groups for likes. I've tried goggling it and looking it up on facebook but not much luck.

Yes, there are some groups which let each other to share their pages and get some extra fans. I can give you two suggestions for getting more fans quickly,
1. Contact similar page admins and request them 'Share for share'.
2. Log on to addmefast.com.
(I got 1000 fans in one day just working 1 hour there ^_^)
