does social media inspire bad behavior? - Feka - 03-24-2014 08:38 AM

According to Jenna Wortham in Facebook Made Me Do It "Our growing...compulsion to document our lives and share them online...could be giving us more reason to act out online, for better or for worse." Do you agree or disagree with this statement? In your opinion, does social media inspire "bad behavior?" Explain.

Yes, sometimes.
It's a whole new area of peer pressure and the bad side of it is pretty simple (there are good sides too)

In general a person does not behave his/her best in the absence of other people, the internet gives the illusion the there are no people around, so stuff happen. For some, social media does just the opposite, they use it as a tool for countless good behaviors and thats why it's wrong to say that it's bad or good. For example: Yahoo-Answers is a social site, if you spend time on it when you should be working, then even if you help someone with a great answer you did a bad behavior Smile

Social Media is definitely powerful tool , any tool can do two things build or destruct.
Its all on how you use it . I think if proper ways to do good through these tools has been not been created yet and there is absence of it.
Awareness is needed.
Saying that Social Media inspired bad behavior is wrong !
