I've thinking about getting an elgato game capture because I want to start a gaming channel on youtube and I was wondering how do you record and upload gameplay on PS4?

An elgato won't work, unless you also buy an HDMI splitter.
The HDCP (copy protection) hasn't been removed from PS4.
If you want to record gameplay, just use the integrated "Share button" on your controller. Upload it to Facebook. Download it off of Facebook. Upload to YouTube.
