Is it possible to find my dad? - M3ow - 03-24-2014 10:12 AM

I don't know him.. he walked out of my life at like 7. I just want to be able to find relatives on his side so I can know my background info. I have his last name, and I know where he was born and I roughly know where he lives now. Is there any organizations that can track down people I could be related to like aunts and uncles ?

Dear Meow, I'm sorry that he was never there for you. Have you tried plugging his name and town into http://www.whitepages.com?

As to finding aunts/uncles, try the various social sites, such as Facebook.

As to your ancestry, all you need is your father's name, where he is from, etc. You start with your birth certificate, then the birth/marriage/death certificates of your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc.

You could use social media, phone directories people search websites etc this might help http://familytimeline.webs.com/adoptionlivingrelations.htm looking for living people is very different to look for ancestry as living people have privacy rights, so you can't research the same as we do in genealogy...................
