Hi,
I'm majoring in Psychology and get my A.A. after this semester. I would really like to work in therapy or counseling. Something with children would be nice - working wit traumatized children, or disabled children, or troubled teenagers - Maybe even troubled families,... or Mariage counseling.
I want to do my Masters, (hopefully right away... I know its not the best paying career, but something I really like to do/always been wanting to do.
But now people were telling me that the market is better if I have a degree in Social Work instead, or Child Education (I could become a kindergarten teacher which I'd like, too). I love the Psychology - But if iss really that Bad I don't Kid changing.
Can i for example get my Bachelor in Social Work and then my Master in Psychology? How would you recommenf me to go?

Don't change just because of the job market. If you're seriously considering social work, see if you can get some work experience as a lot of people like the idea of it, but it is a difficult job and you've got to be quite thick-skinned. And if you stick with psychology and work and get the top grade you can, there will be a place for you in the job market.

Ya, you can get your BA in Social Work and masters in Psychology. You're going to have to take classes at a college to get your BA in Social Work, while you're working on your Masters. It will be hard but the effect of your work is well worth it!

In order to work as a social worker in most states, you need a Master's in Social Work (MSW). A Bachelor's in Social Work probably won't get you much of anywhere. I'd stick with Psychology for your BA and then get your Master's in either social work, marriage/family counseling (MFT), professional counseling, etc. With your BA in Psychology, you can get a job working with children even if you don't go straight into a Master's program. You never know what might happen, considering graduate school is more competitive than undergraduate school.
If you love Psychology, stick with Psychology. If you love what you do, you'll be successful in it. Think of it this way: If the unemployment rate is as high as 10%, that means rougly 90% of people are employed. The odds are in your favor if you have a college degree. I agree with the first person who answered, don't change your career path based on the economy. By the time you graduate, it most likely won't be the same anyways.
