I ended up finding an old friend and saw his profile. He's not my frient yet on my friends contacts. Can he know that I viewed his profile on Facebook? Please explain. Thanks.

Facebook doesn't allow people to track who views their profiles or contents. Third party applications are also are unable to track anybody.
