I would not buy hardware that old, 3GS is the oldest I would go.

snapchat and instagram are available on any iphone although for snapchat you must have ios 5.0 or later and instagram requires 4.3 or later i would suggest getting an used iPhone 4 if you are will to save or you can buy a android phone they are cheaper than new iphone and they have snapchat and instagram and are very durable and replaceable

I don't think so... but it isn't a good idea to buy hardware that old. I would rather go with the iPhone 4/4s.
