I am brand new to facebook, i have seen one of my new friends has like quiz results on the left hand side of his page, i think this is called the info bar, how do i put some of my apps there such as quiz results?

Just open an application which you wanna place on profile page. There will be an option displaying like drag this application to profile page. Click on that and add aplication to profile page as profile badge.
