For example I really loved the TweetDeck idea, so I was wondering if you guys know anything about a software/tool to pretty much view all of your main social media streams: facebook, twitter, google plus... and maybe access the message tabs too.

Try hootsuite. This is an online tool that will help you in managing your social media accounts. You may as well schedule your posts - Twiiter, Facebook, G+ .. Hope this helps.
