How do I get rid of the Facebook Malware Trojan Virus? - Nathan - 03-24-2014 10:37 AM

Hi, I recently got the Trojan virus on my facebook account and nothing else. What this horrible virus has been doing is sending links to all my friends repeatedly telling them stuff like "you've been caught on the hidden camera" and "i couldn't sleep after watching this video!". When you click on it it brings you to a youtube like page with a video and a message saying you must install Adobe Flash Player 10. When you download it it asks you if want to download a file called "codecsetup.exe" which I accidentally downloaded. I have to get rid of this virus and fast because all my friends are getting really mad at me for giving them this virus. Can somebody tell me step-by-step how to get rid of the virus on my facebook profile manually without downloading anything else, because I already have a ton of great virus protection softwares.

Well its a worm which sometimes comes with malware/rootkit.

Do the following:

2. run:
AVG Anti-Rootkit Free 1.1.0.42

Use your anti-virus/anti-spy software. Do a full system scan and delete any viruses. That should get rid of it. If not, try getting ESET Nod32. That should work. As the first answerer said, it is a worm and needs to be gotten rid of. AVG will do the same also

AVG has the worst detec rate of all antivirus programs, Avira free was rated number one by consumer reports, they even stated it is better than most paid ones. Run Malwarebytes free, full scan, get rid of AVG.

You are infected with spyware if:

* You see too much pop-up advertisements.
* Your browser has toolbars that you haven't installed.
* Your homepage has changed (and you can't change it back).
* Other settings have changed without your permission.
* Your computer is slow.

To get rid of spyware and keep your computer clean you can use an antispyware or even more.
You can download a antispyware software. There are 10 good anti-spywares.
here is the reviews: http://top5antispywarereviews.com/

You can download one and scan your system.
All are safe and can be trusted.

The best thing to do would be to run a full system scan with a fully functional and up to date antispyware application, this way ensuring your system is free of all parasites.

I suggest you checkout:
