Company's do it all the time as part of their market research. How many times has Amazon "suggested other items you might like"? All that is linked to an account with a credit card # and address attached to it. Not to mention a phone number and an email address. Which probably links to a social networking site that has interests and hobbies attached to it. Not to mention photos, Where you went to school or who you are dating and the things they might want to buy from amazon.... the list goes on and on.
